So long ago at an althing far, far away yet strangely not so far as I cannot remember……………………….

We arrived at Berry Wine, (can’t use that site any longer thanks to an uptight employee. A Roman wore a T-Shirt with a half dressed lady on it and it offended her so much we were banned, that was the lie at any rate.) and set up our tents.

After a while as Gwynedd was known to do we started to drink and be festive, when I picked up my spear and said “hey I am going out to fight”. Well I marched from Gwynedd camp ran into Baltazar and Laynaya (nolaya as uncle Trystan called her at the time heheh) and they asked what I was going to do I told them.

On my way down I ran into the Tuchucks (appoloins as they were called then) Magor asked what I was going to do with that spear and I told him. Well needless to say I made it to the field and their was no one there, just me and fog about knee high, I sat there and started to drink, and heard a commotion over my shoulder there was papa Finn and uncle Trystan coming down the hill, a few mins later the Tuchucks arrived along with the Shindar, the Kuchagury Rome the rest of Gwynedd and a few people that are not worth mentioning because well I cant remember, so we split up the sides.

Now for some reason Gwynedd had over 14 fighters at this event a record at the time (we did not have the best attendance record great practices with 22 or 30 people just not a great Dagorhir turn out).

So it ended up Gwynedd and the four Kuchagury vs everyone. As the battle started we flanked hard right and crushed Rome then turned and charged down the hill at the Shindar catching them just messing with the Kuchagury we decimated them. Then we cleaned up the field, the next few battles went for us and against us and by now the fog was stirred up real nice, so nice that you could not see a foot in front of your face.

The last battle of the night (we had been fighting for about three hours BTW). The other team called a full charge Trystan ordered us to the right and just as it would so happen right into the Shindar charge. Now the Shindar are not bad fighters, one of the best units ever at fighting next to Gwynedd (of course). However we were all hyped up and they were young, fast and had no real weight or mass to them. Needless to say with Handrik, Mordok, Thorak and myself leading the charge left we hit them hard and used what we had (or strength and weight) to drive the little ones into the ground. We demolished the Shindar, however we lost track of the rest of the army and the battle became a one on one or two on one fight all over the field.

It seemed to last forever, once you killed someone it seemed another person was there to take their place, it was total chaos, three to four orders where being yelled at once, Gwynedd was being picked off by Rome left and right, the only good thing was we were taking them down with us.

Then I found Trystan and Finn in the fog, Trystan had his spear, as did Finn I had my sword and Nevada shield. We called out but no one answered, we were all that was left of Gwynedd, that as it turned out was a tactical error because it let the remaining Tuchucks know where we were. They charged in at the sounds of our voices.

Now for any of you that has ever fought in these conditions you might understand how we felt at the time. We saw the charge right as it was on us, we had little or no time to do much of anything, lesser men would have fled, or just died. However we are Wyndhavens, Knights and Kinsmen, I did the only thing I could think of I summoned every last bit of energy I had, and pushed back. Some how I caught Magor and sent him flying in to Schatten and Bear knocking them all down. (I was rather built back them still in high school and if I do say so myself I embodied HUGE!). As I did this Finn took two others with perfect spear shots, and then a third with a spin and shot to the back (yes back then Finn had moves baby.).

However the shot of the night goes to Uncle Trystan, while Finn and were busy dealing with the others Tempus cam charging from the side. Trystan saw him at the last second shot his spear out caught Tempus in the middle of his stomach. (Now I know this does not sound so grand but hang in there the best is yet to come).

As soon as he hit him, Tempus doubled over on Trystan's spear, Trystan using his momentum lifted him off the ground pulled up hard on his spear and used it to lift Tempus up over his (Trystan’s head) and slam him into the ground behind him. He then put his foot on top of him and said (bored like) guess that’s it, I am going to drink……

We all did go and drink………….. Happy days……………

Good story - and accurate too.
Except for the flip part - he and I had hit each other with our spears but neither one took the shot so I dropped mine and did a judo throw on him.
Tempus hates me to this very day over that - in his mind I flipped him after I was dead.

I thought you used your spear... Oh well, Tempus hates me also we were at a Thanksgiving battle a few months later it was really snowy and I hit the shit out of him so hard that he slid acorss the field and over the edge of the hill and all the way down to the creak below. He should just learn to not mess with his betters, and by that I mean Wyndhavens of course.

I like Owen's version better. That's the one I'll tell my grandkids, because I'm a revisionist like that.
